“What should I wear?”

Neutrals such as creams, whites, and beiges always photograph beautifully. If you want to include color in your shoot, stick to muted tones such as mauves, sage greens, blushes, dusty blue, and even a rust orange or mustard color. These colors are rich enough that they provide gorgeous tones in your photos but are not distracting. Bright colors should typically be avoided. Always take into account the location you have chosen for your shoot. You want to make sure not to blend into the scenery. I recommend going for outfits that are textured, whether it be with lace, buttons, layers, etc. Long gowns that flow are my absolute favorite. You can never go wrong with a beautiful, boho styled maxi. Accessories are great, but make sure they add to the outfit and do not take away from it. Hats are a sweet addition to almost any session! Do not match your outfits, but instead, color coordinate. I’ll gladly help you choose colors and outfits that complement each other. Avoid wearing more than one pattern. If one of you wears a pattern, I suggest a solid neutral or muted color for the other. For patterns, I suggest subtle dot patterns or tiny print. Avoid anything really colorful and distracting. A simple or muted toned plaid is usually okay. Stripes and buffalo check don’t always photograph the best, so if you’re thinking of wearing one of the two, I’d be happy to check out the piece before your session if you’re worried!

The shoes.

Okay, so for the shoes there are just a couple things! Are shoes necessary, or would this session look amazing barefoot? I love the barefoot vibes! If you do need shoes, think about the weather and the location before choosing them. Take into consideration whether or not we will be hiking to the location. If so, I recommend just packing an extra pair and changing into the ones you want photographed once we get to the location.

“Do I need a hair and make-up artist?”

You do not have to get your hair and make-up done by any means, but I’m happy to send over a few links to some very talented artists if this is something you want for your session! I personally love getting my hair and make-up done before a shoot.
